Fireworks (2012)

Fireworks is a puzzle game inspired by the PS2 classic, FantaVision. The player selects a series of matching Fireworks, attempting to create combos and detonating them before they expire.

Being that FantaVision was one of my first and favorite PS2 titles, the experience resonated with me quite a bit. I wanted to attempt to recreate that experience within the short time-frame that was available to complete this project. The game progresses through a series of waves, slowly increasing the rate that the fireworks appear on screen while simultaneously decreasing their lifetime. Simply clicking wildly won’t have much of an affect at this point, since matching colors are required to detonate. White fireworks provide the ability to chain together combos and create a full detonation of the same color, resulting in the maximum possible point bonus. This was another Zero Engine project and was extremely fun to build, it is one of the games that I am still the most proud of.
